Why Verify Your Identity?
Know Your Customer (KYC) verification is required by financial regulators to protect you and prevent fraud. Completing verification unlocks higher transaction limits and access to all Danipa features.
Verification Tiers
Danipa uses a tiered verification system. Each tier unlocks more features and higher limits.
Basic Tier
No documents required — this is your default tier when you create an account.

Standard Tier
Required document: A valid government-issued photo ID.
Accepted IDs:
- Ghana: Ghana Card, Voter's ID, Passport, Driver's License
- Nigeria: NIN Slip, Voter's Card, Passport, Driver's License
- Kenya: National ID, Passport
- Cote d'Ivoire / Senegal: CNI (Carte Nationale d'Identité), Passport

Premium Tier
Required documents: Photo ID plus proof of address.
Accepted proof of address:
- Utility bill (electricity, water, internet) — dated within 3 months
- Bank statement — dated within 3 months
- Tenancy agreement — current and valid

How to Verify
Step 1 — Go to Verification
Open the Danipa app and navigate to Settings → Account → Verify Identity.
Step 2 — Select Your Tier
Choose Standard or Premium depending on the features you need.
Step 3 — Upload Your Documents
- Select your document type from the dropdown
- Take a clear photo of the front of your ID — make sure all text is readable
- If required, take a photo of the back of your ID
- For Premium tier, upload your proof of address document
Tips for a smooth upload:
- Use good lighting — avoid shadows and glare
- Place the document on a flat, dark surface
- Make sure all four corners of the document are visible
- File size limit: 5MB per image
Step 4 — Selfie Verification
Take a live selfie to confirm your identity matches your ID. Follow the on-screen instructions:
- Position your face within the oval guide
- Keep a neutral expression
- Remove glasses, hats, or face coverings
- Ensure even lighting on your face
Step 5 — Wait for Review
Your documents will be reviewed by our verification team.

You'll receive a push notification and email when your verification is complete.
Verification Status
You can check your verification status at any time:
- Pending — your documents are being reviewed
- Approved — verification complete, new limits are active
- Rejected — there was an issue with your documents (see reason and resubmit)
Common Rejection Reasons

| Blurry or unreadable document | Retake the photo with better lighting |
| Document expired | Upload a currently valid document |
| Name mismatch | Ensure your profile name matches your ID exactly |
| Selfie doesn't match ID | Retake your selfie following the guidelines above |
| Proof of address too old | Upload a document dated within the last 3 months |
