Send Money

Learn how to send money internationally to family and friends across Africa using the Danipa app.

Overview

Danipa makes it easy to send money to family and friends across borders. You send in your local currency, and the recipient receives in theirs — with competitive exchange rates and transparent fees.

Requirement: You must be at least Standard KYC tier to send money. See the KYC Verification guide if you haven't verified yet.

Supported Destinations

Danipa supports remittance to multiple African countries via MTN MoMo. You can send from Canada (CAD), United States (USD), or United Kingdom (GBP) to:

More countries are being added regularly — the app automatically shows all available corridors.

How to Send Money

Step 1: Choose Destination Country

From the home screen, tap Send Money. You'll see destination countries as tabs at the top of the screen (e.g., Ghana, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire). Tap the country you want to send to — Ghana is selected by default.

Once you select a country, you'll see the available sending corridors (e.g., Canada → Ghana, United States → Ghana). Tap the corridor that matches where you're sending from.

Step 2: Choose a Recipient

Select a recipient from your saved list. The screen shows:

  • Recent recipients — your top 3 most recent recipients appear as quick-select chips at the top
  • All recipients — the full list with search, showing name, phone number, and delivery method badges (MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash, or Bank Transfer)

You can also add a new recipient inline without leaving the send flow:

  1. Tap Add New Recipient to expand the form
  2. Enter the recipient's full name
  3. For MTN MoMo or Vodafone Cash: enter their phone number
  4. For Bank Transfer: enter the bank name and account number
  5. Select the delivery method and tap Add & Select

The new recipient is saved and automatically selected for your transfer.

Tip: You can search recipients by name or phone number using the search bar.

Step 3: Enter Amount

Enter how much you want to send. You can enter the amount in either currency:

  • You send — enter the amount in your local currency (e.g., CAD)
  • They receive — tap "Enter receive amount" to switch and enter in the recipient's currency (e.g., GHS)

The amounts stay synced — changing one automatically calculates the other using the live exchange rate.

As you type, the rate card shows:

  • Exchange rate — the current rate for your corridor
  • Transfer fee — the fee for this transfer
  • They receive — the calculated amount the recipient will get
  • Rate lock timer — your rate is locked and a countdown shows how long until it expires (e.g., "Rate locked for 5 hr 48 min")

If the rate expires before you continue, you'll see "Rate expired — tap to refresh" to get a new rate.

Speed Tiers

Choose your transfer speed:

  • Economy — standard delivery (1–2 business days), lower fees
  • Express — faster delivery (within 1 hour), higher fees

The fee and rate update automatically when you switch tiers.

Step 4: Review & Confirm

Review your transfer details:

  • You send — the amount in your currency
  • Fee — the transfer fee
  • Total cost — the full amount debited from your wallet (amount + fee)
  • Exchange rate — the rate applied to your transfer
  • Speed — Express or Economy
  • Delivery estimate — "Within 1 hour" (Express) or "1–2 business days" (Economy)
  • Payment via — the delivery provider
  • They receive — the amount the recipient will get
  • Transfer limits — your daily and monthly limits based on your KYC tier

Tap Send Now to proceed. A confirmation sheet will slide up showing a summary of the transfer.

Step 5: Authenticate

To protect your account, Danipa uses biometric authentication to authorize transfers:

  • Face ID or fingerprint on supported devices
  • Falls back to your device passcode if biometrics aren't available

Tap Authenticate & Send to confirm the transfer.

Step 6: Success

Once the transfer is submitted, you'll see a confirmation screen with:

  • The amount sent and received
  • The recipient's name

From here, you can:

  • View Activity — see the transfer in your transaction history
  • Done — return to the home screen

Exchange Rates

Danipa offers competitive exchange rates updated in real time. On the amount screen, you'll see the live rate for your corridor. Rates may vary slightly between Economy and Express tiers.

When you view a rate, it's locked for a set period (shown as a countdown timer). This guarantees the rate won't change while you complete your transfer. If the lock expires, simply tap to refresh and get the latest rate.

Tip: Check exchange rates anytime from the home screen — the live rate card shows the current CAD → GHS rate.

Transfer Fees

Fees are always shown before you confirm the transfer. No hidden charges. The fee amount depends on:

  • The corridor (which currencies)
  • The transfer amount
  • The speed tier (Express or Economy)

The total cost (amount + fee) is displayed on the review screen so you know exactly how much will be debited from your wallet.

Transfer Limits

Limits depend on your KYC verification tier and are shown on the review screen:

TierDaily LimitMonthly Limit
StandardCAD 3,000CAD 50,000
PremiumCAD 20,000CAD 200,000

Transfer Status

  1. Tap Activity in the bottom navigation
  2. Tap on the transfer to see its current status

  1. On the recipient screen, tap Add New Recipient
  2. Fill in the inline form (name, phone/bank details, delivery method)
  3. Tap Add & Select — the recipient is saved and selected automatically

From your profile:

  2. Tap Add Recipient
  3. Enter their details: name, phone number, and delivery method (MTN MoMo, Vodafone Cash, or Bank Transfer)

Once saved, recipients appear in your list with recent recipients shown as quick-select chips at the top.
