Language & Localization
Change your app language, adjust currency display preferences, and customize regional settings in Danipa.
Overview
Danipa is designed for users across multiple countries and languages. This guide covers how to change your language, adjust currency display, and customize other regional preferences.
Changing Your Language
In the App
- Go to Settings → Language
- Select your preferred language:
| Language | Availability |
|---|---|
| English | All countries |
| French | Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, and diaspora |
- The app restarts with the new language applied
What Changes
When you switch languages:
- All menus and buttons update to the selected language
- Transaction descriptions appear in your language
- Push notifications are sent in your language
- Email receipts and statements use your language
- Help and support content is shown in your language
What Doesn't Change
- Customer names — displayed as entered by the account holder
- Merchant names — displayed as registered by the merchant
- Currency codes — always shown as standard ISO codes (GHS, XOF, etc.)
Currency Display Preferences
Default Currency
Your default currency is set during registration based on your country. To change it:
- Go to Settings → Currency
- Select your preferred display currency
- This changes which wallet balance is shown first on the home screen
Note: Changing your display currency doesn't convert your funds — it just changes which wallet is displayed prominently.
Amount Format
Different regions format numbers differently:
| Format | Example | Used In |
|---|---|---|
| Period decimal | 1,234.56 | Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, UK, US, Canada |
| Comma decimal | 1.234,56 | Cote d'Ivoire, Senegal, France |
Danipa automatically uses the format matching your language setting. To override:
- Go to Settings → Currency → Number Format
- Select your preferred format
Currency Symbol Position
| Position | Example | Default For |
|---|---|---|
| Before amount | GHS 100.00 | English |
| After amount | 100,00 XOF | French |
This follows your language setting but can be customized in Settings → Currency → Symbol Position.
Date and Time
Date Format
| Format | Example | Default For |
|---|---|---|
| DD/MM/YYYY | 15/03/2026 | UK, Ghana, France |
| MM/DD/YYYY | 03/15/2026 | US |
| YYYY-MM-DD | 2026-03-15 | ISO standard |
Change in Settings → Date & Time → Date Format.
Time Format
| Format | Example |
|---|---|
| 12-hour | 2:30 PM |
| 24-hour | 14:30 |
Change in Settings → Date & Time → Time Format. By default, this follows your device setting.
Time Zone
Danipa uses your device's time zone for displaying transaction times. All transactions are stored in UTC internally, so your history is accurate regardless of where you travel.
Phone Number Format
Danipa displays phone numbers in the international format appropriate to each country:
| Country | Format |
|---|---|
| Ghana | +233 24 123 4567 |
| Nigeria | +234 801 234 5678 |
| Kenya | +254 712 345 678 |
| Cote d'Ivoire | +225 07 12 34 56 78 |
| Senegal | +221 77 123 45 67 |
When entering phone numbers, you can use either:
- Local format — e.g., 0241234567 (the app adds the country code)

Tips
- Match your language to your primary audience — if you're a merchant serving French-speaking customers, consider setting your language to French so you're familiar with what they see
- Check email settings — ensure your receipt language matches what your accountant needs
- Currency display doesn't affect conversion — changing display preferences is cosmetic only; actual balances and conversion rates are unaffected
